lit?

lol. why does the blog look like it's dying? i am starting to suspect that no one even visits this place anymore, since the tag board is stagnant too. =( hopefully it's not because i posted and then everyone got too bored.

anyway, when once again reminiscing my wonderful life 1 to 2 years ago, i got this urge to revisit some of the adv. lit stuff we did in sec 3. so here are some works that i recommend. haha.

1. neuromancer and the 2 following books by william gibson
2. do androids dream of electric sheep by philip k dick i think
3. bladerunner, a film adaption of 2
4. existenz, an extremely interesting movie that unfortunately came out in the same year as the matrix, got trashed commercially and slipped into oblivion =(

alright. hope everyone's enjoying hols. and if you happened to have some time on your hands, try the stuff above. =)

hihi

in order to prevent the class blog from dying, i shall just randomly boast. haha.

super proud of myself now. i just obtained evidence that sleeping early boosts your creativity and productivity. guess what. i slept at 9.30 last night and woke up at 5.30 this morning. and the amazing thing: i composed a chinese poem while dreaming. and the best thing is that it rhymes and all the formats and stuff are correct! whee! but i shall not share it here lest it embarrasses me since i must concede that it's of pretty low quality if you were to look at the content. but still, this is the first step. if everyone were to sleep early on a daily basis, we may collectively dream up a full theatre production! haha.

life's tough

since gerald complained to me that the class blog is dead, i shall write something short to cheer him up. haha.

everyone should try to enjoy school. it's really one of the easier phases in life i think. as a student, we are simply enjoying the fruits of others'(teachers, parents) labour. work's so different. you become the person who needs to do stuff, and you'd have to make sure that your labour's useful in some way. lol. alright. i think all these would seem pretty hollow and irrelevant. so nvm about that.

oh. and after a recent chat with don tan(my ex-classmate, my current boss at RECAS), i learnt a few more things. hard to put them into words though. but gerald normally gets such ideas and is able to express them nicely in words so i shall not embarrass myself here.

it's sad that in the pursuit for efficiency and so- callled higher standards of living, we seemed to have forgotten what higher standards of living really mean in the first place. i am not saying that i know for sure what that encompass. but i would like to ask everyone to really think about why you are doing the particular combi of things at this moment in your life. and really think about the root cause, not just something like i felt like it and i wanted to have fun. lolz.

alright. shall turn in early and try to salvage my devastated conditions tmr. bye and enjoy your hols! =)

Moo-vie Outing!!!

HELLO ITS ME AGAIN! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I am blogging like a girl. THAT is not good.

Anyway, just wanna ask if anyone wants to catch a movie this weekend. Before we catch the movie, I propose we catch a bus, or catch some fishies first. However, if that idea sounds bad, lets just go catch a movie.

Movies Showing that I don't mind watching to watch:
  • Beowulf
  • Saw IV (Yangtze Cinema anyone?)
  • 11th Hour
  • The Bee Movie
  • Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur
  • Actually anything is fine :)
People I don't mind watching the movie with:
  • Everyone! :)
Everyone, please tag whether you are free this weekend or next weekend or this weekday nights (cos people are on attachment and internships) and which moo-vie you might want to watch, if you want to watch any at all.

We can have fun after the moo-vie doing things like eating dinner or spending the night on orchard road if its too late.

Fuse

2 more days to the start of Bio O
1 more day to the end of O levels
0.5 more day to the Reading-Arsenal Match
0 days to Gerald blowing up and dying of boredom

GERALD IS BORED. GERALD ALMOST COMPLETED ZELDA ON WII. GERALD IS NOT MEMORISING ANYTHING FOR BIO O. GERALD IS HARDLY GOING OUT. GERALD IS NOT DOING ANY TUTORIAL. GERALD IS (WAS) NOT BLOGGING. GERALD IS TYPING IN THIRD PERSON.

Who wants to go out tomorrow? Gerald wants to buy a book from Kinokuniya or Borders or anywhere that sells the book. Alternatively, anyone with that book can give it to Gerald and Gerald will be really happy.

Before Gerald forgets, Happy Birthday Mr. Sun Yat Sen! (edit:Do dead people celebrate birthdays)

~END OF POST~

Ranting starts here:

Who the hell cares about biodiversity, especially little things that we can't even see with the naked eye. Of course some of you are going to beg to differ, that there ARE indeed prokaryotes that we can see with our eyes without the aid of microscopes. But honestly, who cares about something that small. I don't care whether they are Photoautotrophs, Chemoautotrophs, Photoheterotrophs or Chemoheterotrophs. I don't care whether they are bacteria or archaea, paedophiles or extremophiles. I don't even need to know that there are so many types of eukaryotes on Earth and just the protists can be classified as diplomonads, parabasalids, euglenozoans, alveotes, stramenopila, cercozoa, radiolaria, amoebozoa, rhodophyta and chlorophyta...

That was just less than 1% of what I have to remember if I am really going to study for Bio O because if I really bother to, I might even try to memorise the characteristics and how they sort the little cells out. But I am not going to. I am going to screw up Bio O, really badly.

holidays!

yay! finally holidays! OP is OVER! haha. i think everyone's done except ada's group right? anyway, thought i'd just update everyone for class fund. we still have quite a bit of money left. around 50 dollars i think. so we can just carry that over to next year. =D

hope everyone's enjoying your well-deserved holiday. happy holidays to everyone!

for those who have tons of stuff to do during holidays, don't feel sad. adopt my school of thought - life always rox! haha. yeah. regardless of what happens, just try your best to psycho yourself into thinking that, and you'd realise that things aren't so bad and there are still plenty of fun stuff waiting for you. =D

btw, i am thinking of collaborating with waihan and gerald toh to publish a book(or rather a word document) to raise funds for class fund. title: wise words and their implications - a groundbreaking collection of the wisdom of three men. the document will be sold @ just $2. projected publication date: december 2008. taking advanced orders now! if you order now, we can give you a discount of 10%! so, place your orders now! the sheer anticipation for the document's publication will give you something to look forward to in the otherwise potentially bleak jc life. =D

Happy Belated Halloween!

Disclaimer: Continue reading at your own risk. This post is written in the name of good harmless humor with no evil intentions so please read it with an open mind. The author sincerely apologises for any tensions, misery, trauma, bodily cramps, sore throats, fevers, etc caused by reading this post.

...

BOO! Yesterday was Halloween and it was totally freaky.

Firstly, there was oral presentation. Everyone was scared initially while Moses was scared throughout the whole presentation, ending off with a knee shaking exercise during the Q&A portion. Beyond that, everyone then proceeded with freaking the examiners out with their outstanding presentation skills while the examiners freaked everyone else by giving everyone insanely high marks :D

Next freaky thing on the list was the outing we had after OP. It was quite fun, except for the number of people who turned up and the people who fall asleep while everyone is singing.

People who fall asleep during karaoke

As usual, Wai Han and I sang super high pitched songs and we ended up sounding like howling thingies, fitting perfectly into the Halloween mood. We sang everything ranging from 张惠妹 to 曹格 to Tata Young, in a bid to end up with a sore throat and sounding sexy. We failed, luckily because I haven't had my OP yet and I don't really want to sound sexy on that day.

The stars of the afternoon weren't us though. It was a bit more unexpected and really freaky. The stars were...

I know I am courting death by doing this but... well it is in the halloween spirit to be dead :P Anyway, these two stars sang duets after duets after duets after duets... you get my point. Below is a short noisy poorly filmed clip of them singing 今天你要嫁给我.

We also sang Mandy by Westlife except that we replaced "Mandy" with "Shida"s and "Ada"s. Below is the chorus of the actual song. Try replacing "mandy" yourself and have fun singing :P

...oh Mandy
Well you came and you gave without taking
But I sent you away, oh Mandy
Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking
And I need you today, oh Mandy...

Before we left, we were presented with another shock - the bill. Stupid fruits cost so much and wet napkins cost 1 dollar per pack?! Stupid partyworld.

Ok, I am sleepy now and I shall stop posting nonsense that are gramatically unsound and poorly organised.

Happy Holidays :)
